Police Officers and T-Rexes

For Halloween, we went to visit Mommy's parents in Nevada. They moved there towards the beginning of the year. Daddy was going to be in the area for a week of work at different customer sites, and Thing 1 was on his off track, so we went to visit.

Thing 1 decided that he wanted to be Lego City's Chase McCain, and I knew what we needed to do for his costume, but I couldn't find what I needed and didn't have time to figure out how to make it, so I bought something and added a badge. The costume was similar enough, that Thing 1 didn't even mind. He just really wanted to make sure he was a police officer.

Thing 2 told me he wanted to be a dinosaur, and I knew exactly how I was going to make his costumer, it turned out so stinkin' cute! The only problem was that Thing 2 wasn't all that fond of it. He eventually got to the point where he was okay with it, and kind of got into the roaring, but it was for bribery purposes.

Thing 1 was attempting to show Thing 2 how to roar at the camera, and he was an awesome instructor.

Thing 2 was having to adapt to an extra limb, and wanted to see it for himself. When he did it, it turned out adorable!

"Hmmm, should I attack Mommy now? Or wait until after we go trick or treating?"

Uh oh, you can tell what that cute little dinosaur is thinking...

ROAR! Get the police officer!

Mr. GQ here, he's certainly comfortable in front of the camera. My tough police officer.

And of course, I had to end with a happy police officer, because that's what he is the most.

Things birthdays!

We VERY recently celebrated the Things birthdays and we had an awesome day celebrating the two together. We went to the pool, playground, out to lunch, and had their favorite Super Duper Macaroni Cheese that Daddy makes. I forget to take the camera to the playground or pool, but I'm kind of glad that I did because I wouldn't have played with them so much. We're hoping to go back to the pool shortly so that we can catch Thing 1 swimming on video. We're very pleased that he figured out how to swim underwater on his own! Thing 2 also figured how to swim with his life jacket on without Mommy or Daddy. It's so fun to watch him. It's really funny to watch when he decides he is done swimming on his stomach and just rolls onto his back and floats. He's so chill and relaxed! Depending on when we get back to the pool, I'm hoping to share pictures soon!

Here are pictures from them opening presents and blowing out candles on their birthday cake.

They love their soft Angry Birds hooded blankets.
And below is Adam opening his much desired Cowboy boots. He's been wanting these for a very long time.

The joy of a boy, his Angry Bird blanket and his Cowboy boots.

The Things again agreed on a birthday cake theme. I hope that they do that for the next few years to make things easier, but if not, I'll make something work. I want to keep them happy. So here is their Lego cake. I wanted to do fondant, but with our recent move and unpacking still, I didn't have time.

I was so excited to have found Lego candles on clearance! Bonus!

Happy birthday my handsome not so little Things! Mommy and Daddy love you very much!!!!!

We have Superheroes in the house!

My little guys love to grab their old Halloween costumes from their costume case and play. I love it too and one day Thing 1 put on his cape and mask and Thing 2 was determined to be dressed the same while trying to steal big brother's cape. Thankfully we had a second cape, although not nearly as bright, it still did the trick.

Momentarily, Thing 1 is Thing 2's sidekick to help him get dressed.

My two little superheroes! They ran around for quite sometime with their capes and masks on. You can't see it very well, but in the background there are a lot of blankets, chairs, and a pop-up tent. They had built their fort where they would jump out and catch the bad guys.

I think the next day they decided to cuddle with their teddy bears as well as each other in the big bean bag. They giggled for the longest time, pretend to be asleep and snore and then "wake up" yelling and laughing all the while. It's times like this that being a Mommy is fun.

May Scout-O-Rama!

We take a trip almost every month to see family and by the time I feel like I've settled and gotten everything back to normal, we leave again! Hopefully that will get better.

So we're going to play catch up!

Daddy is a Webelo Scout leader in our ward and we went to a big Scout-O-Rama and the boys loved it. Primarily because the day started with a train ride. Thing 2 looks pretty cute in his Mud Scout shirt. I thought it was appropriate for the day.

Thing 2 fell asleep shortly after we got there, so I wasn't able to participate in very much at first. Thing 1 went to the National Guard BB Gun Range.

Built a catapult with leaders and scouts from the ward.

Daddy was in his element with the scouts.

Thing 1 loves the catapult still.

This is one of the boys' favorite displays because it was this huge train track. It was very difficult to pry them away from it.

Thing 1 did a rock climbing wall and actually got higher than my fully extended arm before he spooked and decided to come down. I was pretty proud of him for even attempting to climb it.

Spring!

Spring has arrived in our new home and it reminds me of where I grew up in Washington state. Much warmer than in Idaho and fluctuating. So we will be posting images of us outside much more often. (I hope....)

Things 1 and 2 received an Easter package from Grandma and we opened it and allowed them to eat some of their treats. Well, after Thing 2 got his chocolate bunny, he disappeared. Knowing he hadn't gone out the front door, we started teasing we were going to find him. I heard him giggle in my room, and looked all over. I finally got down on my hands and knees and looked under the bed and found this.

Realizing he had been caught, he broke into a smile and laughter. It was a lot of chocolate he had consumed, so we pulled him out and washed that sweet little face off... and unfortunately took the last little bit of chocolate away. He wasn't so sweet when we took the chocolate away!

We didn't do an actual Easter egg hunt and I don't remember why, but we did one around the apartment. Something simple and easy. Then we colored eggs a few days later. The boys had fun no matter that we missed doing it the day before Easter.

They were "patiently" waiting for their eggs to be colored.

Thing 2 absolutely loved coloring the eggs with his crayons.

Thing 1 worked really hard on his eggs too.  And was doing his best to be patient.

The eggs that the boys colored with their crayons, and dyes.  I did get to color and decorate one egg, but I did have orders on how to decorate. Like the Yellow Angry Bird.
